A solo piano arrangement, Intermediate level, set to the tune of the English folk song Greensleeves — one of my favourite carols to play, for the way it lets me lean into the chord colour and the shift between minor and major as it moves. Moderato, around q=80.

I first arranged this one 30 years ago, in university, for a Christmas concert back then — our son later played a simpler version of it himself at a mini concert of his own. I revisited it for my Peaceful Christmas piano album last year, and I’m finally publishing the score now.

A good fit for a Christmas recital or a candlelight carol service — anywhere a reflective, harmonically rich “What Child Is This?” works.
